oh I agree with you entirely, my annoyance is not so much with America not getting there first (I live in England so I'm pleased in that respect) but rather displeasure at the effect on world research of a country with the resources and size of America taking such a strong position against progress in this field, and wondering how much more would be accomplished if they got involved.

And actually the concerns I've expressed seem to have been addressed anyway, having read just a few days ago that with bush gone the FDA has finally approved some massive trial at Princeton I think it was. So it looks like we might be enterring exciting times now.

I think it partly is because of the huge uproar against stem cell research in the US that has stunted research and chased away funding.

I find it a bit odd that you don't seem to be pleased about the progress, you're upset that America didn't get there first. I personally don't care if it's a nomad living on the north pole, at the end of the day, these technologies mean better medicare for everyone
